The students learned so many interesting things about our community, including the Shoshone people, early settlers, mining, farming, the railroad, and the fire that destroyed Old Weiser. One of their favorite people to learn about was Walter Johnson, who played baseball for the Weiser Kids before going on to play for the Washington Senators and eventually being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. It was fun to see the students make connections between what they learned in the classroom and the history of our community. We had a great time learning and exploring together!
