West Monroe man accused of cutting woman’s neck with sword; arrested

WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) — On Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Harper Street in West Monroe in reference to a stabbing. When deputies arrived on scene, they located a female victim with a large cut on the left side of her neck.

The victim was in need of constant aid until an ambulance could arrive at the scene. According to reports, the victim had told authorities that she was stabbed by “Brian Lewis,” who was later identified as Larry O’Brian Lewis.

The victim was unable to give many details about the suspect other than that he used a samurai sword to cut her. The victim added that Lewis was allegedly angry with her about a past incident that involved her child. The victim had to be sent to an emergency surgery to treat her injuries.

According to a witness, Lewis had gotten the sword from another person living inside the home. The witness also stated that she was asleep during the time the victim had been injured, but was awaken when the victim began screaming.

The witness continued to explain that Lewis allegedly caught the victim inside the room of the homeowner and that was not suppose to be in there. Additionally the witness said that Lewis and the victim were the only other two people in the residence and he fled the scene prior to the authorities arriving.

According to reports, Lewis has over 35 arrests with many of those arrests relating to violent acts where he had weapons.
