OPINION: Jules Walters focuses in action-based policy, deserves reelection

As a former West Linn city councilor and mom of two, Jules Walters has my vote.

From my six years of serving West Linn, I gained a deep understanding of the qualities that make for great leaders, which I see reflected in Jules. At a basic level, she works to build consensus among her colleagues on both sides of the aisle in pursuit of action-focused policy that yields consistent results for our community, such as the expansion of local job training programs in West Linn during her time as mayor.

As someone who has been both a working and stay-at-home mom, the CHIPS Childcare Infrastructure Fund Jules championed is a vital investment in supporting employment opportunity equity for all Oregonians by providing access to and investment in child care services. Protecting Oregonians’ right to choose is incredibly important to myself and my family, and as a mom I know that such a personal choice should be up to individuals. Jules has continually supported and protected that right.

Jules understands the importance of cultivating strong community relationships, and the ways in which she engages with and listens to her constituents reflect her thoughtfulness and grounded leadership. She is the type of legislator that will serve everyone she represents and do so with skill and compassion.
