The solstice and the official start of summer is still weeks away, but the first weekend of June sure does bring the summer vibes. Aficionados of all stripes will find something to dig in this weekend’s eclectic mix of featured events throughout Eastern and Central Iowa. Teams will be rushing to make their mark in The 48 Hour Film Project later this summer, but you can relive 20 years of the project in Des Moines with 48 Turns 20 at the Des Moines Art Center. Iowa City movie buffs can get your Swayze on with a rooftop showing of Road House at FilmScene. For your festival kick you can head to Cedar Rapids this Saturday for the Iowa Women’s Festival. The fest features women-led art, businesses and performances.
