Three New Austin Restaurants Take Asian Cuisines to Exhilarating Heights

Spring in Austin has been a busy season for restaurants. And three of the most exciting new dining spots are based in regional Asian cuisines where the chefs lean into their respective experiences and upbringings to create food that is electrifying, inventive, familiar, and, best of all, delicious. There’s American Chinese restaurant within a dive bar (Yellow Ranger), a food truck-to-restaurant transformation of a modern Laotian American spot (Lao’d Bar), and the return of Thai Chinese food stall with a new full-service location (P Thai’s Khao Man Gai & Noodles).

Every Sunday evening, 20-year-old Mercedes Mata would cruise her sparkly pink 1984 Chevy Monte Carlo down Jefferson Boulevard in Oak Cliff and through downtown Dallas. Her customized lowrider, which she named La Mera Mera, caught the attention of many on the streets of her hometown and even celebrities online. Second food distribution planned for people, pets
The Central Texas Food Bank and Hays County Pet Resource Center will host a drive-up food distribution for people and pets on Saturday, May 25, from 9:30 -11 a.m. at McCormick Middle School in Buda. The event is open to anyone in Hays County and pets do not need to be present to receive pet food. Pet food for cats and dogs will be provided in addition to the normal food distribution.
