WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — West Lafayette High School was evacuated early Tuesday after a caller claimed to be inside the school with a gun.

Students and staff were evacuated to nearby Mackey Arena while police responded to the school and began a room-by-room search.

The West Lafayette Police Department said no injuries were reported and no evidence was found that the threat was credible after a search of the school.

As a precautionary measure, West Lafayette Intermediate School was placed on a temporary lockdown during the investigation and West Lafayette Elementary was closed for the day.

The police department said that while the threat is not believed to be credible at this time, a criminal investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the threat is asked to contact police at (765) 775-5200. To remain anonymous, use the WeTip hotline at (800) 78-CRIME.
