Eight local boys golfers make cut for day two of state qualifiers
HAMILTON — Twenty-three Section III boys golfers made the cut to compete on the second of two days at the state qualifiers. Ninety-two golfers hit the links at Seven Oaks Golf Club in Hamilton on Wednesday. Those who shot an 84 or better made the cut and will go again on Friday at the same course. Those two scores will be totaled and the top nine advance to the state tournament, which is the weekend of June 1 at the Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira.

CLAYVILLE — Rome Free Academy won the Section III girls golf team state qualifier on Thursday at the Cedar Lake Club. The Black Knights shot a team total of 358, far outpacing second place Fayetteville-Manlius’ 389. Vernon-Verona-Sherrill was third with a 408 and Christian Brothers Academy was fourth (438).
