Hill, of Brunswick and Bailey Island, was a longtime professor of American history at George Washington University and an author of four books on the subject. Tony Trischka’s ‘Earljam’: A good time - Scruggs style
Banjo master Tony Trischka, whose students have included Bela Fleck, arrived with his band - Michael Daves on vocals and guitar, fiddler Alex Hargreaves, and bassist Jared Engel - for a concert at the Opera House at Boothbay Harbor May 3. The music of Earl Scruggs was celebrated, from childhood to his final years.

A perfect dessert for this month is coconut beet sorbet, which utilizes fresh, local produce. Inspired by my own mother, this sorbet blends the sweetness of beets with a hint of coconut and honey. It is not only a light dessert, but also doubles as a palate cleanser between courses.
