One dead, one injured
One man is dead, and one is injured, following a reported fight Wednesday night near Clear Lake Avenue. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says the victim Aaron Cutler, 38. Sheriff Jack Campbell says he was shot in the chest and a second man, believed to be in his fifties, was shot in the back.
Man identified from Springfield shooting on South Paul Street
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WICS) — The Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has released the name of the man who was shot in the 300 block of South Paul Street in Springfield. Allmon says Aaron Cutler, 38, was pronounced deceased by emergency room staff at 6:44 p.m. shortly after his arrival.

Man charged with hate crime in Springfield for incident at convenience store
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Charges have been filed against a man in Springfield for pulling out a knife in front of a convenience store employee. Everett D. Simpson, 44, was arrested on May 27. Paperwork from the Sangamon County Sheriff's Office states that Simpson was loitering at Okam's Quick and Easy, a convenience store in Springfield. A store employee asked him to leave but Everett reportedly pulled out a pocket knife and told the employee "go back to your country."

The Sangamon County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a 38-year-old man Wednesday night south of Clear Lake Avenue. Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon said that staff at HSHS St. John's Hospital pronounced the man dead at 6:44 p.m., shortly after a shooting in the 300 block of South Paul Street.
