“In Tandem” takes Colby by storm
This past Saturday night, what was trademarked as “The Unconventional Fashion Experience” took place at 9:45 p.m. in Studio 2 of the Gordon Center for Creative and Performing Arts. The event, titled “In Tandem,” promoted the up-and-coming brands of three students: Jack Richard ’25, CEO of GOOD BALNCE, LLC; Jana Berry ’25, CEO of SILK HEART; and AJ Mino ’25, CEO of First Generation Kids. The fourth member of the team, Lee Trombly ’26, served as the operations director for the event. Clint Macy ’26, the CEO of PERCHANCE APPAREL, assisted the other brand directors with printing and designing.
Women’s Lacrosse Knocks Off Hamilton in NESCAC Tournament
On Saturday Apr. 27, the women’s lacrosse team continued their recent run of NESCAC tournament success with an opening-round victory over the fifth-seeded Hamilton Continentals. The Mules, who hold the fourth seed in the tournament, opened the game quickly with a free-position goal from Julia Jardina ’25. Jardina has been an offensive fixture for Colby this season, and the score marked her 37th of the season, a career high.

Colby Handles Bates to Secure #1 Seed Heading into Playoffs
This past weekend, Colby’s baseball team took on the Bates Bobcats in a three-game series to wrap up the 2024 regular season. Bates hosted the first game on Friday afternoon, while the Bobcats made the drive over from Lewiston for a doubleheader. The Mules fell to Bates 3 – 9 on Friday, but were sure to impress in front of a lively home crowd on a gorgeous April Saturday, winning 5 – 0 and 7 – 3, respectively.
Claire Jiménez Wins Pen/Faulkner Award for Fiction
Dr. Jiménez has been a University of South Carolina faculty member since 2022. She currently holds a joint appointment in the department of English language and literature and the department of African American studies. Her research and teaching interests focus on creative writing, ethnic studies, digital humanities, African American literature, Latinx and Afro-Latinx literature, Puerto Rican and Caribbean studies, and African literature.
