Weekly Safety Report: Alcohol Compliance, Collision, and House Fire in Watertown, SD
This week in Watertown, South Dakota, there were three incidents of note. First, the Watertown Police Department and Codington County Sheriff's Office conducted routine alcohol compliance checks, with several establishments passing the checks. Second, a collision between an SUV and a semi on East Highway 212 resulted in minor injuries to the occupants of the SUV. Lastly, a house fire occurred on Third Avenue Northeast, causing damage to one room in the basement and resulting in one person being taken to the hospital.

Semi vs. car no injury crash near Hayti
{KXLG -Hayti, SD} Around 4:45 p.m. yesterday, S.D. Highway 21 was closed until debris and a disabled vehicle could be removed after a semi pulling two trailers was traveling North on U.S. Highway 81 when it entered the left turn lane at the intersection of U.S. Highway 81 and SD Highway 21. The semi started turning left onto SD Highway 21 when a car driving South on U.S. Highway 81 collided with one of the trailers.

Watertown house fire victim receives "smoke and heat" injuries
{KXLG -Watertown, SD} One person was home at the time of a home fire and was injured from smoke and heat at 601 3rd Avenue Northeast in Watertown, SD. Watertown police dogs get new tactical vests
Watertown Police Department’s two police dogs are looking good these days, sporting brand new tactical vests. The vests, which are custom made for each dog, cost about $1,000 each. AT&T provided the funds for the vests. The money was donated through the Watertown Community Foundation, which handles the accounts for donations to the police.
