The Waterloo City Band will kick off our 2024 season with the first rehearsal on Wednesday evening May 8.

Practices will be from 6:45-8 p.m. in the band room at the Maunesha Business building (the old Waterloo library downtown). Practices will be held every Wednesday evening through the spring and summer months.

This year we welcome our new conductor and events coordinator Lauren Gentry. She is the director of bands and music at Marshall High School.

This season’s concert events include the Memorial Day Program at Fireman’s Park on Monday, May 27, a June Dairy Month “Kiss the Cow” outdoor concert at the Karl Junginger Memorial Library on Friday evening, June 21 and Indepedence Day in Firemans Park.

We also plan for concerts at the Waterloo American Legion, the Marshall Community Library, Weiner and Kraut Day and the Halloween Spooktacular. Please check your Courier for future event details.

The band is also updating our Facebook page and website at www.waterloocityband.com. Band musicians of all ages, experience and instruments are welcome to join us.

Our band has musicians from junior high level through entire age ranges including many retired folks. There is no audition or dues to play in the Waterloo City Band. All are welcome to come and share the fun and accomplishment of music! (Even if you haven’t played in years, you are welcome to dust off your instrument and join us.)

Contact Lynn Schultz at 920-478-2451 or email lrschultz@mwwb.net if interested in more details on joining the band.
