OU lands $80M contract to oversee USPS workforce development training
The University of Oklahoma has been awarded a contract worth nearly $80 million to provide workforce development training services to U.S. Postal Service employees. As part of the eight-year contract, OU's College of Continuing Education will employ over 100 people at Norman's National Center for Employment Development, many of whom are former postal workers or military personnel. They will perform training services in a wide variety of subjects, like technology, machinery and professional development.

Muscogee Creek Nation invested in Oklahoma’s youth with All-Sports Camp
The Muscogee Creek Nation continues to invest in the health and quality of life of Oklahoma’s youth by conducting All-Sports camps throughout eastern Oklahoma. This year completes 13 years of conducting the All-Sports Camps L6TD promoting the development of skills for speed, quickness, agility and balance in young athletes. “2017 was the first time we did three camps – Bristow, Eufaula & Okmulgee. Former Chief James Floyd wanted more locations for more youth. I had gone to Weleetka schools and Weleetka community to partner with putting it together. So, I just duplicated my time and effort. I had started out with fundraisers and requesting funding from Creek Nation with the Weleetka Indian community. I asked for the resolution, worked with Mr. Holieway on coaches and submitted a proposal to the National Council. Chief ’s Phillip Tiger, Floyd and David Hill have all been supportive as well as Council members.”

High School took his talents to Brent Venables OU football camp on Thursday. This time he was awarded with a scholarship to play for the Sooners. It may seem early, but Brown has all the intangibles and potential to be the top overall prospect in the state come his senior year. Eufaula’s Brooke Helms making a difference as Sooners Director of Sports Nutrition
Brooke Helms, MA, RDN, CSSD, LD, joined Oklahoma Athletics in the summer of 2022 and serves as the Director of Sports Nutrition. In this role, she provides nutritional services to OU student-athletes and promotes nutrition as an essential component for optimal performance. She also assesses and analyzes dietary practices, body composition and energy balances of student-athletes, maintains ongoing communications with coaches, athletic trainers, physicians, strength & conditioning coaches, mental health staff and administration to improve the performance outcomes of athletes through nutritional interventions. Additionally, she evaluates effectiveness and compliance of nutritional products and supplements served to student-athletes, and manages & mentors all sports dietitians, graduate assistants and student interns.
