Free Lyft rides for those celebrating Independence Day in the DMV

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Going out and about for Independence Day? You can snag a free Lyft ride to make sure you get home safely.

The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) will offer free Lyft codes for people celebrating July 4th to combat drunk driving.

The 2024 Independence Day SoberRide program will begin on Thursday, July 4 at 4 p.m. and end on Friday, July 5 at 4 a.m.

To redeem the offer, residents of the Greater Washington area who are 21 years and older should download the Lyft app on their smartphones and then enter the SobeRide code under the app’s Payment tab, found under the Add Lyft Pass option.

Only the first 1,500 passengers who enter the code will be able to receive a free ride.

The code will be posted here at 3 p.m. on July 4.
