WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) are investigating after two men were shot and killed late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Just hours later, MPD responded to reports of a shooting at around 3:23 a.m. on Thursday in the 4400 block of Hunt Place NE. There, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Loved ones told DC News Now that he was in his 20s and described him as a calm, loving person.

Many neighbors were surprised to hear that someone was shot and killed in their own neighborhood, and they say they’re frustrated with the violence.

“I’m upset […] it’s too much and it’s unnecessary killing,” said one woman.

“It just doesn’t make no make sense why there’s so much shooting and killing and I’m sick of it. They need more police patrolling the neighborhood, especially from 12 to 3 in the morning,” she added.

Anyone with information is asked to call MPD at (202) 727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.
