The Chi Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority recently delivered 82 food bags to Warsaw Elementary School.

The Empower Our Families Committee demonstrated support through the Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (CHIPP) program. According to a press release, the initiative aims “to provide weekend and holiday meals for children in local communities, with Warsaw Elementary School benefiting from the program.”

Every week, non-perishable food items are delivered to the school so students have access to nutritious meals even when the school is not in session. Meals and snacks are distributed for free through CHIPP for enrolled students during weekends and extended breaks.

The program mainly supports children from families who are facing food insecurity, however all students at the school are eligible for CHIPP benefits.

The program relies entirely on volunteers from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, who work closely with the school and community to pack and distribute food bags weekly. Through initiatives like CHIPP, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority continues to positively impact local communities, striving to ensure that no child goes hungry.
