That’s an interesting word, and one that has a relatively straightforward definition: the process of increasing in physical size. Aiken County can’t get any bigger in size, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t experiencing rapid growth. If you are in downtown Aiken and head in any direction, you will see land cleared, new housing developments and many businesses under construction.

Sizzling Summer Preview: Highs to hit the 90s as storms loom
Wednesday afternoon update: The stage is set for a classic summer pattern, complete with the potential for afternoon thunderstorms. Starting off with Thursday, high pressure starts to loosen its grip on the area, and we will see a bit more moisture in the air. It is going to feel a bit muggier. This will help fuel a stray shower or storm during the afternoon. However, most spots will remain dry. Highs will rise to near 90 degrees, while nighttime lows will feel a bit warmer in the upper 60s. Going into Friday, there will be an increased chance of a few afternoon showers and storms. Highs will be similar, with readings climbing to near 90 degrees. As we head into Memorial Day weekend, expect the heat to stick around, with highs in the low 90s. And keep an eye on the sky each afternoon; those storms might pack a punch!
