Warrenton softball wraps up season on high note
Warrenton High School softball had a great end to the season with four straight wins. After beating Neah-Kah-Nie twice on May 14, the Warriors took care of Corbett twice on Thursday to finish league play with a winning record. With the four-game winning streak to end the season, Warrenton finished fourth in league with a record of 8-7 and 13-12 overall.
43-year-old man arrested in Vancouver in connection to Long Beach, Wash. murder
VANCOUVER, Wash. — A 43-year-old man was arrested Friday in Vancouver in connection with a 2015 murder of a man in Long Beach, Washington. Pacific County Sheriff's Office arrested Charles Watts for the death of Jeffrey Beach, 36, following a 15-month investigation. Watts was transported to the Pacific County Jail, where he was charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter, according to the sheriff's office.
Recall petition filed against Seaside city councilor over potential book restrictions
SEASIDE — A recall petition has been filed against City Councilor Steve Dillard over his call for age restrictions on books at the Seaside Public Library. R.J. Marx, a former editor of the Seaside Signal and South County reporter for The Astorian, filed the petition on behalf of Freedom to Read Seaside. Marx’s wife, Eve, serves on the Library Board.
