Veterans honored with breakfast and dedication
The Jefferson County Veterans Service Office will be hosting a Memorial Day celebration on May 25. The even will begin at 9 a.m. with biscuits and gravy, followed by a bench dedication for the United States Public Health Service, and a ceremonial laying of engraved bricks at the Veteran’s Healing Memorial. The event is free and open to the public, and will be held at the Jefferson County Community Center at 860 SW Madison St.
Man injured when horse stepped on his leg rescued on Crooked River National Grassland, flown to Bend
MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A man who suffered a broken leg when a horse stepped on it was rescued Friday afternoon on the Crooked River National Grassland and flown to St. Charles Bend, officials said. Summit focuses on youth drug prevention
A weeklong summit held by Jefferson County Public Health May 20 through 24 hopes to raise awareness among youth, parents, and the community about the danger of opioid use. Warm weekend ahead, well above normal
Plenty of sunshine and a ridge of high pressure over the region will provide Central Oregon with well above normal temperatures for a few days. The pattern will persist into Sunday as the high remains parked over the Pacific Northwest. This is a rare blocking pattern, with high pressure due north of a low pressure cell. It is called a Rex Block, but the bottom line is we will be warm and dry for a few days.
Driver dies after car plummets 250 feet off bridge near Warm Springs
A Happy Valley man was killed early Saturday after his car plummeted 250 feet off a bridge along Highway 26 north of Warm Springs. The crash happened at the Mill Creek Bridge, about three miles north of the Wasco County-Jefferson County line. Warm Springs Police found the scene at 1:05 a.m. Saturday.
