'Leona: Love thy Neighor, Too' set for stage
The High Desert Community Theatre Guild is set to stage part two of last fall’s production of the comedy ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ with ‘Leona: Love Thy Neighbor, Too’. The comedy follows the characters of the previous show, with plenty of comedy and neighborly love. While it’s the same familiar cast of kooky characters, the show stands alone as a fun comedy for the whole family. The show runs April 18, 19 and 20 at 7 p.m. and Sunday April 21 at 2 p.m. at the Madras Performing Arts Center. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
Community garden reopens April 20
The official re-opening celebration of the Madras Community Garden is set for Saturday, April 20 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The garden has been closed since 2019. Work has already been completed to weed and prepare the raised beds and plots for Spring 2024 planting. The organizers also reached out to the Oregon State University Extension office and requested speakers from OSU Master Gardeners, who will be in attendance to answer gardening questions and provide literature on gardening in Central Oregon. The Madras High School Environmental Club of Madras, United Methodist Church, Jefferson County Public Health and the High Desert Food and Farm Alliance with support from the Environmental Center worked on the grant and helped prepare the garden.
