The Lake Geneva Women’s Association began as an extension of the Lake Geneva Jaycees and were known as the Jaycettes. Since their origination they have evolved into the Women’s Association but the mission to serve and give back to the community remains the same. Currently, they are accepting applications for all Walworth County kids entering 5K kindergarten. The classes will be held June 6th through June 9th at the Lake Geneva Middle School. The classes will focus on all things’ safety including the school bus, cars, bikes, playground, and so much more. Kids will practice their address, learn emergency numbers, and even take a trip to the Lake Geneva Fire Department.
Gage Marine celebrates 150th anniversary, donates $10K apiece to 15 organizations
Any company celebrating their 150 year anniversary with friends and local community members makes for a special event. The Gage Marine Corporation, founded in 1873, made it even more special Thursday night, May 18, at the Riviera in Lake Geneva by providing $10,000 checks to 15 different charitable organizations within the Walworth County community.
American Legion Post 102 announces Memorial Day observances; Parades set at Walworth, Fontana
Ingalls-Koeppen American Legion Post 102 has announced its schedule of solemn, patriotic Memorial Day observances on Monday, May 29. The Walworth-based post is headed by retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Nathan M. “Nate” Bond (1989-2013), a 16-year post member. Since 2016, Bond has served as Veterans Service Officer for the Elkhorn-based Walworth County Veterans Service Office.

Whitewater Resident Charged with Armed Robbery of BP/Raceway Food Mart
Per Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, Willie Hearn III, age 68, of 370 N. Tratt St., #124, was charged on May 22 in Walworth County with a Class C Felony, Armed Robbery with Threat of Force, in connection with a robbery that occurred on May 19 at the BP/Raceway Food Mart at 1138 W. Main Street. Hearn was additionally charged with five misdemeanors: two counts of Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and one count each of Disorderly Conduct, Possession of Cocaine/Coca and Possess Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held on a $25,000 cash bond and will have an initial appearance on May 24. Upon conviction, a Class C felony is punishable by up to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $100,000.00, or both (Wis. Stat. sec. 939.50(3)(c)). Unless a judgment of conviction is entered, the defendant is presumed innocent of all charges.

Missing Endangered Person Alert – CANCELED
This alert was canceled on Monday morning, as Ms. Fischer has been found. The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office issued a Missing Endangered Person Alert on May 21 at 11:28 p.m. for Katelyn Ann Fischer. Fischer, a 30-year-old white female who has developmental disabilities, was last seen leaving, upset, on foot from a group home at 4233 N. Scharine Road, Town of Richmond, Rock County. She is 5’6″ tall, weighs 230 pounds, has brown eyes, and long black hair with blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing black leggings with teal trim, blue tank top, flip flops, and carrying a burgundy purse. She has a tattoo of angel wings on her back or shoulder, nose piercing, tongue ring, and forearm scarring. Fischer has no vehicle. Her cell phone appears to be powered off and she has none of her medications with her.

Walworth County hosting Clean Boat, Clean Waters training
Walworth County’s Land Use and Resource Management department is teaming up with the Geneva Lake Environmental Agency to hose a Clean Boats, Clean Waters training event.
