Investigation into 2 Waltham overdose deaths leads to arrest

The suspect is facing drug charges but is not charged in the men's deaths.

A 35-year-old Boston man is facing drug charges after police investigated two overdose deaths in Waltham earlier this month.

On April 7, city and state police responded to a Lexington Street apartment complex for a report of apparent overdoses and found two men dead inside a unit. A white powdery substance located at the scene tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.

During their investigation, police discovered text messages on the men’s phones “allegedly organizing deals and discussing payments as recently as the morning of the fatal overdoses,” the DA’s office said.

Police then set up a meeting with the defendant — Jourdan Henderson — “under the guise of purchasing illicit narcotics” and, at the meet-up, found nine oxycodone pills, seven grams of a white powdery substance believed to be fentanyl-laced cocaine, $2,500 in cash, and drug-distributing materials, such as a scale and baggies, authorities said.

Henderson was charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone. He was arraigned in Waltham District Court, with his bail set at $1,000.
