City of Boston Hosts Olympic Swimmers, Kicks Off International Water Safety Day Events
BOSTON – Tuesday, May 14, 2024 – Today, the City of Boston was joined by Olympic swimmers Cullen Jones and Janelle Atkinson to kick off a series of events to raise awareness of International Water Safety Day, an annual day of recognition to bring global awareness about drowning prevention. The morning reception kicks off two days of events that will include visits to two Boston Public Schools, a technique clinic for youth at the BCYF Flaherty Pool in Roslindale, and a water safety festival and swim lesson at the BCYF Mattahunt Community Center in Mattapan. This series of events is the latest in the City of Boston’s Swim Safe campaign that strives to improve water safety by making swim lessons and water access top priorities.
Bruins call out officials for failing to disallow game-tying goal by Florida
BOSTON — A few Bruins were measured in their criticism of the on-ice officials and NHL officials in Toronto for failing to overturn a controversial third-period goal. Coach Jim Montgomery clearly disagreed with the decision to let Sam Bennett’s game-tying goal to stand in the third period, despite Bennett’s shove of Charlie Coyle into goaltender Jeremy Swayman. The Bruins challenged the call, alleging goaltender interference, but the goal stood.

On Thursday, May 23, Newton South High School will host the Garden City Cup, an annual exhibition match involving all the tennis teams at Newton North and Newton South.
