An Ulster County man accused of hiring a hitman to kill his neighbor has been convicted of first-degree murder.

Prosecutors allege that Enoch Lowe, of the Town of Wallkill, paid his high school friend, Damante Stansberry, $15,000 and provided cannabis to carry out the 2022 murder of his neighbor , Jeffery Harris. Lowe was accused of acting as a lookout while Stansberry stabbed Harris in the neck and body inside the victim's garage.

Prosecutors further claim that Lowe supplied Stansberry with the mask and gloves used during the crime and utilized a code word over the phone to indicate when the victim was alone.

In addition to first-degree murder, Lowe was found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence after destroying the phone he used to communicate with Stansberry.
