Taste Budz Review: Kindred Public House
If you haven’t already heard, there’s a new kid on the block: Kindred Public House. It’s a sister restaurant to Cascadia Public House, and it does not disappoint. Zack and I both ordered the short rib street tacos; they sounded too good to share. Local tortillas made by De Leon’s get stuffed full of tender, juicy braised short rib. Then for a touch of freshness, they top it off with pickled red onion, cotija cheese, green salsa, slaw, and cilantro. I could eat these every day for the rest of my life. The meat is so rich and flavorful when you first bite in, but then the refreshing flavors of the slaw and salsa cut through the richness, making a perfectly balanced plate. Zack, of course, ordered his without red onion, which they were happy to accommodate.

In 2025, the Inland Northwest food scene lost some mainstays but gained new, diverse concepts
As the Inlander’s food writer, I’m constantly on the prowl for a new place to grab a bite. The foodies of Inland Northwest are often right alongside me in this quest, rejoicing when an innovative new eatery opens its doors, but also sharing sincere disappointment when favorite spots shutter. While 2024 saw several notable closures of spots in downtown Spokane, food entrepreneurs quickly recognized an opportunity and filled many of those gaps this year, in the process introducing locals to plenty of new flavors and cultures.
