Wallace bridge project begins in two weeks
WALLACE –– The replacement project for Wallace’s 6th Street Bridge will begin on April 29. The bridge, which crosses the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River and provides access from Wallace to Nine-Mile Canyon and Dobson Pass was put under severe weight restrictions six years ago. A year later, a temporary bridge was placed across the structure to allow heavier vehicles to pass over it, and has been in place ever since.

KELLOGG –– Rod Plank was sworn in as mayor for the city of Kellogg on Wednesday evening after receiving unanimous support from the Kellogg City Council. KELLOGG — Shoshone Medical Center recently acquired an updated MRI machine, a Canon Orion. The old machine was 11 years old and took about 20 minutes or more to capture data during a patient’s scan. Radiology manager Casey Winchel said the new machine’s A.I. noise reduction software has lowered scan times.
Gas leak prompts evacuation in Wallace
WALLACE –– A natural gas leak on Tuesday night forced the evacuation of several homes in the residential area of Wallace. Shoshone County Sheriff’s Capt. Seth Green told the News-Press that on Tuesday evening they received multiple reports of natural gas being smelled throughout several neighborhoods in Wallace.
