Route 24 exit in Taunton closing for roadwork
Drivers using Route 24 southbound in Taunton will face overnight delays as Exit 17A to Route 140 southbound closes for roadwork from Oct. 27 through Oct. 29. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation plans to conduct the work nightly from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning, according to a community announcement. Work is anticipated to be completed by the morning of Oct. 30. Exit 17A will be closed during the work hours. Route 24 southbound detour Drivers approaching the Exit 17A closure should continue south on Route 24 and take Exit 16 to Padelford Street. At underground stations with fare gates, the task was simple: Keep an eye out for passengers who hop gates or sneak in after other riders who already paid.
