FRESNO, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – A robotic dog who has been seen at different places around the Central Valley is on a journey to inspire the next generation, according to the person behind the controls.

Anthony Cardona from Visalia is the man who controls Chappie, the robotic dog. He says his adorable companion is designed to spread joy wherever he goes.

Cardona, an IT Systems Administrator with over 17 years of experience, says he’s always been interested in robotics and programming.

“Chappie isn’t just a pet; he’s a testament to the incredible possibilities of technology,” Cardona said.

Cardona says every other day he takes Chappie out with his dog, Ariel, and takes them on walks around the Central Valley and other parts of California.

Chappie and Ariel are the perfect duo, according to Cardona. They charm everyone they meet.

Cardona says when they’re on their walks, Chappie’s demeanor never fails to draw smiles from people walking past them. Children and teens are especially captivated by his futuristic design, Cardona says.

“Through Chappie, I hope to inspire the next generation, showing them that the future holds boundless opportunities for innovation and fun,” Cardona said.

If you are interested in your own robotic dog, an online search shows that the robot dog appears to be a “Unitree Go2” which starts at $1,600 and can be as expensive as $3,050.
