Nearly 1,700 votes were cast in online voting over four days.

A senior at North Mac, principal Molly Uhe-Edmonds, who nominated Snell, characterized Snell as "a quiet leader with integrity who is a mentor to underclassmen."

Snell is a member of the National Honor Society and on North Mac’s soccer and track teams.

Other nominees included Noah Ingram of Brown County High School; Mack Leonard of Franklin High School and Allysse Lewis of Southeast High School in Springfield.

Principals and administrators from local and area schools nominated students based on academic achievement, leadership, citizenship, character, public service and participation in clubs and activities.

Nominees for the SJ-R Student of the Week run online on Mondays and in print on Tuesdays.
