Hurricane Models Show Future Isaias Faster Landfall Anywhere From New Orleans to Pensacola With Rapid Weakening Expected Before Reaching the Gulf Coast
GULF COAST — The first look at hurricane-specific models for future Isaias shows a faster system than earlier guidance suggested. All of the models bring landfall on October 9 or very early on October 10, which would shorten preparation time along the northern Gulf Coast. The possible landfall zone stretches from New Orleans to Pensacola, though more model members currently favor a westward track. Intensity peaks range from Category 1 to Category 3 before rapid weakening is shown ahead of landfall.
