GRETNA, La. — Two Gretna police officers shot at a man who tried to hit them with a vehicle during a police chase on Monday. Shots were fired after officers tried to stop 29-year-old Ronald Thomas at 5th Street and Holly Drive for having a counterfeit license plate. Police say Thomas refused to stop, so the officer began to chase him.

Two men killed in recent New Orleans shootings were identified Tuesday by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office as 34-year-old Chad Verret and 39-year-old Roderick Thompson.
