The first in this year’s spring series of Classics in the Courtyard at the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation (SCHF) took place Friday, with Keys Vs. Strings providing the music and food provided by Goldie’s Express.

The spring series will continue each Friday through May 10, offering a variety of entertainment through different  genres of classical music, SCHF officials said. Local entertainers and restaurants will be providing music and food for each event.

The events themselves are free; however, lunch can be purchased for $15 per person for non-SCHF members and $12 for members. Reservations are required and must be made by 5 p.m. the Thursday prior to the event.

The remainder of the spring schedule includes: Fri., April 26: music by Howl & The Big Bad Wolves and lunch by Billy’s Italian Restaurant; Fri., May 3: music by TMurray and lunch by Don Ho’s BBQ and Deli; and Fri., May 10: music by Fred T. & The Band and lunch by Tommy’s BBQ.

The program is supported in part by funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and in part from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency, as well as by the support of SCHF individual and corporate members, the City of Vicksburg, and various appropriations.
