Vermillion County Fair returns this weekend and the rides are back for 2023
The Vermillion County Fair kicks off this weekend with the Queen/Princess Contest Friday night, June 9 at 7:00 pm at the Vermillion County Fairgrounds in Cayuga. The fair itself kicks off on Saturday, June 10th, and runs through June 17th. For everything you need to know visit them online or through their Facebook page.

…AN AIR QUALITY ACTION DAY HAS BEEN DECLARED…The officials at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management have called for an Air Quality Action Day on Friday June 2 for the following Indiana counties… Carroll, Warren, Tippecanoe, Clinton, Howard, Fountain, Montgomery, Boone, Tipton, Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Randolph, Vermillion, Parke, Putnam, Hendricks, Hancock, Henry, Vigo, Clay, Owen, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Rush, Sullivan, Greene, Monroe, Brown, Bartholomew, Decatur, Knox, Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, Jackson and Jennings. This Air Quality Action day will be in effect from 1200 AM to 1159 PM. An Air Quality Action Day means that a combination of the high temperatures, light winds, and other factors, are expected to produce conditions where high levels of ozone emissions may exceed federally mandated standards. Here are some recommended actions that the public can take to reduce ozone forming emissions:

Pride is coming to Danville
When I think of locations for Pride celebrations, Vermillion County doesn’t immediately come to my mind. But in the heart of Danville, a new group is working hard to bring the LGBTQIA+ community a place that is their own. The Vermillion County Pride Coalition (VCPC) was established just a few months ago and they’ll be hosting Pride Fest as their first official event in Downtown Danville next month. The family-friendly festival will feature a dog parade, a diaper drive, music, and food and drink vendors. VCPC chair Vice President Bonnie Marrow met me at Obsidian Coffee to talk about how the organization came to be, her favorite moments from Pride, and why she thinks no one is ready for the Gen Alpha generation.
