    Engelhardt, Ventura lead the way at Channel League Track and Field Finals

    Fresh off setting two national records, Ventura High junior Sadie Engelhardt started her high school postseason by winning the girls 1,600-meter title at the Channel League Track and Field Finals on Thursday at Rio Mesa High.

    Engelhardt won the 1,600 with a time of 5 minutes, 3.93 seconds. The reigning state champion in the 800 and 1,600 said last week she would only run the 1,600 in the CIF-Southern Section postseason. The CIF-SS Prelims are next Saturday.

    Last weekend, Engelhardt set national high school federation records for the 1,600 (4:29.86) and the outdoor mile (4:31.72) at the Mount San Antonio College Relays. She also anchored Ventura's 4,000 distance medley to a national-record time of 11:21.85.

    Engelhardt, Valentina Fakrogha, Melanie True and Aelo Curtis took home the Channel League 4x400 relay title with a time of 4:00.81 on Thursday.

    Curtis won the 3,200 title with a time of 11:11.00 and True won the 800 title in 2:16.96. Fakrogha won two league titles, the 400 in 56.63 and the high jump with a clearance of 5 feet, 1 inch. Ventura earned the team title during the regular season.

    Madison Easter of Buena sprinted to titles in the 100 (11.93) and 200 (24.87).

    For Oxnard, Mikayla Oliver won the long jump (17-5.75) and Natalie Estrella won the shot put (33-7.50). Oliver, Ryanna Harris, Mariah Tutt and Ali Medina set the league record and lowered their own school record by winning the 4x100 relay in 48.07.

    Elizabeth Nieto of Pacifica won the 300 hurdles (47.88).

    Brooklyn Bittner of Rio Mesa won the discus (103-10).

    BOYS

    Ventura won five individual titles and one relay to lead the boys competition.

    Erik MuroMurillo swept the throws, winning the shot put (54-3) and discus (145-1). Anthony Fast Horse won 1,600 (4:15.71) and Micah Grossman won the 3,200 (9:22.50). Luke Carnaghe won the 300 hurdles (39.79). Jake Auster, Oliver Deleon, Carnaghe and Grossman won the 4x400 in 3 : 24.81.

    Ventura won the team title during the regular season.

    For Oxnard, Camren Harris won the 100 in 11.04, Caleb Marzette won the 200 in 22.54, and Shaun Tolson won the 400 in 50.69. Tolson, Caleb Marzette, Alejandro Gomez and Harris won the 4x100 relay in 43.30.

    Jackson Knowles of Rio Mesa won the high jump (6-3).

    Douglas King of Pacifica won the triple jump (42-9).

    Chase Pritchard of Buena won the long jump (21-8.75).
