Basketball: TGU’s Sophie Bachmeier signs with Valley City State

One of TGU Girls Basketball’s top players over the past five years has signed on for hoops at the next level.

Sophie Bachmeier is set to join a roster full of in-state talent at Valley City State next season.

Bachmeier tallied over 1,100 career points, 500 rebounds and 400 assists across her five-year varsity career, helping the Titans win a District Eight Title and make it to this year’s state qualifier game.

The opportunity to play for the Vikings came about just a couple of week’s ago, allowing her to keep playing the game she loves.

I’ve been looking, I’ve been wanting to play college basketball for a really long time so, I was actually working on trying to send my highlight reels to other coaches and when I received that text, it was like God sent this and it’s showing me the correct path to go,” Bachmeier said.

Bachmeier plans to pursue a degree in exercise science and eventually get a master’s degree in physical therapy.
