Additional officers will be on patrol looking for drivers and passengers who aren't wearing seat belts during the campaign, which starts Monday and runs through June 2, police said. This includes vehicles where children are not secured in child safety seats or the right safety seats for their age.

Police are investigating a shooting in Vallejo that left a woman dead and a man wounded late Saturday night, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 2900 block of Redwood Parkway around 11:04 p.m. according to police. They found a man and a woman, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police said.

Samba dancers sporting headdresses of brilliant crimson, yellow and orange, traditional African drummers, giant puppets, Caribbean music - this is just a smattering of the delights that were on display in San Francisco's Carnaval event Saturday and Sunday.

Monarch butterflies, easily recognized by their orange wings limned in black, yellow and white, were among the stars of the inaugural Bay Area Butterfly Festival in Vallejo Sunday.

Held at the Mare Island Promenade at 860 Nimitz Ave., the family-friendly event ran all day.
