Colder temperatures, scattered showers for Thursday
Pack the umbrella and a light jacket Thursday. It won’t rain all day, but showers and a few late-day thunderstorms will be possible. It will be noticeably cooler, too. Several homes damaged in West Virginia after tornado moves through Pittsburgh area
FAIRHAVEN, W.Va (KDKA) -- Several homes were damaged overnight after a tornado moved through eastern Ohio, the West Virginia panhandle, and parts of the Pittsburgh area.In the area of Sheperds Valley Road in Fairhaven, West Virginia, at least three homes were damaged. "It blew my mother-in-law's trailer off the blocks, it blew this one off the blocks, destroyed that one down there, it's completely gone," said William Hart. "It had to be a tornado."Significant damage was also found nearby along International Road where a house had part of its roof ripped off during the storm. People who live in the area spoke to KDKA and say that it sounded like a freight train as the storm moved through the area. Crews are out working in the area to try and clean up the damage. The National Weather Service said that that radar-confirmed tornado moved through Irondale, Ohio and Fairhaven, West Virginia around 1 a.m. as the storms traveled across the region.The National Weather Service says they expect at least one crew to be out surveying damage later today. Motorcycle driver gravely injured in crash near UPMC Mercy
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A motorcycle driver was gravely injured in a late-night crash near UPMC Mercy Hospital last night along the Boulevard of the Allies. Pittsburgh Police say that the crash involved the motorcycle and another vehicle.Medics at the scene performed CPR on the motorcycle before he was taken to the hospital.The driver of the other vehicle refused medical attention.A second vehicle was also hit during the crash but no one was hurt.The Collision Investigation Unit is handling the investigation into the crash.
