Road work prompts travel advisory for Route 5S in Ilion
ILION — The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that beginning Thursday, June 13, Route 5S westbound will be closed to traffic from Route 28 and East Main Street in Mohawk to the intersection of Route 5S and Route 51 in Ilion between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. to facilitate paving operations. The daily lane closures are expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

A Utica code officer was arrested back in February for drug possession, according to the Utica City Police Department. Utica Public Information Officer Lt. Michael Curley said on Feb. 2, Walter Phillips, 36, of Utica, was arrested and booked for fifth and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
