Mom's boyfriend put children in bathroom in effort to save them during deadly North Philly fire
A 6-year-old girl and her mother died after an early morning house fire in North Philadelphia. An 8-year-old boy and a man were also injured. Family members identified the victims as Frances Colon and her six year old daughter Jasmine Flores. Colon's boyfriend put the two children in a bathroom in an effort to try and save them, according to officials. The fire broke out in the 3000 Block of North 4th Street around 3:40 a.m. on Friday. A high school athlete is dead, his friend charged with murder
Zaheem Sabree, 17, was said to be a consequential member of the Chester High School football team. He played an important role in the Chester Clippers’ playoff runs in the 2022 and 2023 high school football season. But his life was cut short when he participated in a sneak-attack shooting that left him to die on a street in the city on June 30, 2024. His friend, 18-yearold Jesse Allen Jr., has been charged with first degree murder, conspiracy, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of an instrument of crime. Allen Jr. is expected to face trial on all charges in connection with his friend’s death.
