Storm Team4 Forecast: Heat wave begins, with heat index over 100° this week
The first day of September is Tuesday, but here we are talking about a heat wave once again. Just three years ago, D.C. had highs between 97° and 99° for five days in a row Sept. 3-7. So, while it isn’t unheard of to be this hot so late in the year, that doesn’t make it OK. In fact, temps of 100° or higher have hit D.C. only a handful of times during the first 10 days of September: in 1881, 1939, 1953 and 1980.
