STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State hit four home runs and the Diamond Dogs run-ruled Alabama 13-3 Friday night at Dudy Noble Field. With the win, State improved to 31-15 overall, 13-9 in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama fell to 28-17, 9-13. Right hander Khal Stephen threw the first pitch for Mississippi State Friday night. Stephen allowed a one-out single but retired the side without further damage. Alabama left hander Greg Farone took the hill for the Crimson Tide. Bryce Chance got the Bulldogs started with a line single to right field. A fielder's chance off the bat of David Mershon accounted for the first out the inning. A walk to Dakota Jordan put two Bulldogs on the bases. A wild pitch pushed both runners up 90 feet. Hunter Hines then launched a three-run home run to left center and the Diamond Dogs had the early lead. It was Hines' 13th home run of the year. A Connor Hujsak fly out to right and Amani Larry punch out closed the inning with a 3-0 lead.
