Alabama high school soccer: 28 Tuscaloosa area players to watch for 2024 playoffs

With the Tuscaloosa high school soccer regular season coming to a close, the playoffs are next for some schools in the county.

For 6A boys and girls soccer, the first round will be April 25-27, second round April 29-30 and the third round May 2-4. For classes 1A-5A and 7A, the first round will be April 29-30 and second round May 2-4.

All classes will participate in the state tournament that runs May 8-11 in Huntsville.

Here are 28 players to watch from Tuscaloosa area boys and girls soccer teams in the playoffs:

Girls

Lexie Segars, Hillcrest

Junior, midfielder

In 2024, Segars has scored 32 goals and assisted on 21 for the Patriots in her third season.

Amarii Johnson, Hillcrest

Sophomore, forward

The sophomore striker has 41 goals and 19 assists.

Addison Golden, American Christian Academy

Junior, striker

Golden led the Patriots in scoring with 28 goals and seven assists with two games left in the season. "She has a very strong scoring instinct, and she's always in the right place at the right time," coach Gene Martin said.

Kaylee Shaw, American Christian Academy

Sophomore, center midfielder

Shaw replaced Anna Robbins (2023 All-State first-team) and has recorded 17 goals and nine assists. "She has been one of the main reasons for our success this year," Martin said.

Savannah Aderholt, American Christian Academy

Sophomore, goaltender

Aderholt has saved six penalty kicks and 71 total goals. Martin described her as a player who has "great instincts and reaction time" and "the best goalkeeper" he has seen this year.

Sydney Sharp, American Christian Academy

Senior, central defender

Sharp is the lone senior on the team and has been a key defender the last two seasons.

Kimber Price, American Christian Academy

Eighth grade, defensive midfielder

Price has been pivotal in a defensive role for the Patriots the past two seasons. She has three goals and eight assists in 2024.

Kenley Myers, Northridge

Senior, forward

The senior has 16 goals and 22 assists for the Jaguars in 2024.

Mary Carson James, Northridge

Freshman, midfielder

The freshman has 17 goals and 10 assists in her first season with the Jaguars.

Ella Johnson, Northridge

Senior, midfielder

Johnson has 16 goals and eight assists in 2024.

Elle Emery, Northridge

Junior, midfielder

Emery has four goals and three assists on the season and plays a major role defensively.

Boys

Brock Abston, Tuscaloosa Academy

Senior, striker/midfielder

The senior has 18 goals and 14 assists for the Knights in 2024.

Simon Mitrev, Tuscaloosa Academy

Junior, midfielder

The junior midfielder has recorded 11 goals and 22 assists.

Anton Schmidt, Tuscaloosa Academy

Junior, striker/midfielder

Schmidt has 29 goals and 12 assists in 2024. He has not played in the last four matches.

Ellis Dykes, Northridge

Senior, midfielder

Dykes has 25 goals and 12 assists for the Jaguars. The team captain is committed to Millsaps College.

Dominic Hart, Northridge

Senior, forward

The senior forward has six goals and nine assists despite missing eight games with a quad injury. He is signed with the University of Tampa.

Caleb Scofield, Northridge

Junior, forward

The junior has 23 goals and 14 assists.

Connor Hooks and Tucker Cornelius, Northridge

Hooks: sophomore, centerback

Cornelius: senior, centerback

Between both defenders, the Jaguars have only conceded 24 goals in 22 games with 10 shutouts.

Bryan Ramirez, Holt

Sophomore, attacking midfielder

Ramirez has scored 14 goals this season for the Ironmen. He is Holt's all-time leading scorer.

Gustavo Martinez, Holt

Senior, midfielder

Martinez has nine goals and six assists for the Ironmen in 2024. Coach Michael Yessick described him as the "dynamo" of the Holt team.

Larry Ramirez, Holt

Junior, defenseman

Ramirez leads the Ironmen's defense with 75 steals.

Edwin Favela, Holt

Freshman, striker

Favela leads the Ironmen with 15 goals. Yessick said that "no one can match his effort or energy on the field."

Bryan Chimalhua, Holt

Junior, goalkeeper

The junior has recorded five clean sheets and saved three penalty kicks for the Ironmen in 2024.
