Teenager arrested after death of Turlock High School basketball coach

(FOX40.COM) — A teenager was recently arrested in connection to a fatal car accident that claimed the life of the Turlock High School basketball coach last year .

“The Turlock High School and TUSD community is profoundly saddened by the loss of John Williams,” Turlock Unified School District said in a press release on Dec. 31, 2023. “John was a beloved basketball coach for 20+ years for the Bulldogs and touched the lives of countless athletes and their families.”

Turlock Police Officers arrested a 17-year-old on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the three-vehicle collision that happened on Dec. 29, 2023, at the intersection of West Christofferson Parkway and North Kilroy Avenue in Turlock.

The juvenile was booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, failure to obey restricted driver’s license provisions, unsafe speed, and reckless driving resulting in bodily injury, according to police.
