Wreckers (Lookouts) Fall in Extras After Ninth Inning Heroics
Chattanooga Wreckers center fielder Ivan Johnson blasted a game-tying homer in the ninth, but the Barons prevailed in extras and won 7-5. Playing their first-ever game as the Wreckers, Chattanooga fell behind early. The Barons had a 5-2 lead entering the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Lookouts managed to carve into the lead. On a 2-1 pitch, Tyler Callihan belted a home run to decrease the deficit to two.
Chattanooga Softball Sweeps Furman; Takes Top Spot In SoCon Standings
Chattanooga softball took both games Saturday over Furman to move into sole possession of first place. The Mocs beat Furman 6-1 in the opener and 3-0 in the second game. Camryn Cernuto went 5-for-7 with two RBI and two runs scored. Kaili Phillips went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs in the second game and a sac bunt. Kendall Forsythe drove in a pair of runs on two hits and Baileigh Pitts had two RBI with a walk and sac fly.
