Tulsa, Oklahoma -- The Oral Roberts baseball team completed their first Summit League sweep of the season Sunday afternoon (May 12) over Northern Colorado with the help of a few stellar performances by senior players.

After a rocky first inning that saw the Bears jump in front 2-0, Joshua Caravalho maintained composure, and put together his best outing of the season.

The right-hander out of Santa Clara would not allow a single base runner until the sixth inning, fanning four batters in the process.

Meanwhile, Alex Rodgers got Oral Roberts on the board in the third after a sacrifice bunt caused an errant throw allowing Martell Davis to score.

Holden Breeze quickly followed that up with a 2-RBI single to regain the lead for ORU, playing before a friendly crowd at home. .

The long ball continued to be a theme for the Golden Eagles this weekend as Kyle Booker went deep for the second time the series, connecting on a three-run homer.

Later after ORU went up 7-2 scoring on a double play, Sam Thompson launched a moonshot over the right field fence striking the light pole just outside the bullpen.

Ryan Carmack would be tasked with getting the three inning save.

The senior immediately overpowered the UNC lineup, striking out the side in his first inning of work.

In his last regular season outing in J.L Johnson Stadium, Carmack tossed two more scoreless innings picking up the save with a strikeout to put an exclamation point on what has been the best weekend for the ORU pitching staff this season.

In Saturday's Game 2, the Golden Eagles had prevailed over the Bears, 6-3.

Game 1 was the strongest thumping of the trio of contests, a 9-2 dominance in which ORU never trailed.

ORU could be the hottest team in the League, having won nine of their last ten games.

The lads were traveling to Springfield to face Missouri State on Tuesday night, May 14. First pitch in Springfield is set for 6:30 p.m. Central Time.

Higlights of this regular season have included a victory over the University of Oklahoma Sooners.

The Golden Eagles’ May 1 victory over OU came in the friendly precincts of Tulsa. It featured dominant pitching from pitchers, to secure a 3-1 victory margin.
