Softball: Steinert Shuts Out Hamilton West/Nottingham, 5-0, on Miller's Perfect Game
HAMILTON, NJ -- Sophomore Ellie Miller pitched a perfect game to lead Steinert to a 5-0 softball victory over the Hamilton West/Nottingham co-op on Wednesday. Miller struck out 13 batters. It was the second time this season that Miller has struck out 10 batters or more in a game, and she's only gone seven innings in those two games.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Addison Hassan went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and Riley Mikolajczak went 3-for-4 for Steinert (7-1), which scored its first run in the fourth inning and then two more in the fifth. Bianca Walsh went 2-for-5 with a run scored and Brooke DeWitt had a single and an RBI. Allyson Fonollosa of HW-N allowed two walks and six strikeouts and only two of the runs against her were earned. HAMILTON, NJ -- Steinert erased an early two-run deficit and went on to record a 7-3 baseball victory over Hamilton West on Tuesday. Alex Wolak and Gennaro Salzano each had two hits and one run batted in for Steinert (5-3), which scored three runs in the third inning to take a 4-3 lead, then added on with three more runs in the top of the fourth.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Aidan Chulamanis pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the win, and Ethan Zimmerman went 1 2/3 perfect innings. SPOTSWOOD, NJ - Ava Mormile picked up her 300th strike as the Spotswood High School varsity softball team earned its eighth straight victory on Wednesday. Spotswood defeated Ewing High School 7-3 to improve the Chargers' overall season record to 9-1. Mormile went the distance for the Chargers, giving up three runs on six hits.
