Gas prices continue to drop in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The price of gas dropped about six cents a gallon in the Peoria area in the last week. According to a GasBuddy survey of 148 gas stations in the Peoria area, the average price of gas is about $3.49 a gallon. This is about 12 cents per gallon cheaper than a year ago and about four cents a gallon more expensive than this time last year.
Mayor Kahl: Blutowne construction on target as a ‘first step’ toward future East Peoria development
East Peoria Mayor John Kahl says the opening of the mixed-use Blutowne complex next to city hall is on target, and he hopes it will usher in more development in the vicinity. “I've always told people, from my perspective, if you go back two decades ago with the vision down there, it included not just retail commercial,” said Kahl. “It was all supposed to be mixed-use with residential and then some type of entertainment components. So, this is just the first leg in what we hope to see come to fruition down there.”

Boy suffers minor injuries after crash in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria Police Department responded to a pedestrian versus vehicle crash near Sheridan Road and Hanssler Place on Monday. According to Peoria Police Spokeswoman Semone Roth, a 13-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and was walking and talking to police when they arrived on the scene.

Explosives found in driver's bag after traffic stop in Pekin, police say
An incident that began with a traffic stop ended with a bomb scare at Pekin City Hall on Friday. According to a news release from the Pekin Police Department, a patrol officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation.
