Eastern Bluebird Festival
FRANK NEWELL’S LEGACY CONTINUES—Warrenton’s traditional SpringFest event took on a new name as the first Eastern Bluebird Festival was held Saturday on Courthouse Square. The name change honors the legacy of the late Frank Newell, a Warren County native and wildlife rehabilitator who, along with his daughter Kristye Newell Steed and son-in-law Anthony Steed, founded the Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group, Inc. to build bluebird houses in an effort to restore populations of the Eastern Bluebird. Today, Newell’s family continues the Eastern Bluebird Rescue Group. Pictured, from the left, are Johnny Steed (Anthony’s father), Anthony Steed, Zachary Varnadore (longtime volunteer) and Kristye Newell Steed. The festival featured music, food and craft vendors, representatives from local organizations and more.

Paulk will be back at Lake Gaston at 8 a.m. this Saturday to meet with participants and onlookers of the third annual Bridge and Back for Q.W.A.C. at the Lake Gaston Regional Chamber of Commerce, 2357 Eaton Ferry Road.

It was only fitting Hart broke the news to the LGWSC last week that he is transitioning into a new position with the company.

HENDERSON — The deadline for appealing one’s properties revaluation is fast approaching. Mind, there are more reasons property owners can’t appeal. The only two valid reasons to do so are if the proposed value substantially exceeds the actual market value; or if it is inconsistent with the market value of similar properties in a neighborhood.
