Georgia receives $11.3 million for long-term infrastructure initiative

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) awarded Savannah, Ga., $11.3 million for “The Boulevard,” a new four-lane divided connector from I-516 to a realigned White Bluff Rd. Beaufort, Jasper road projects advance as SCDOT upgrades routes

The South Carolina Department of Transportation recently shared several updates for road improvements around the lowcountry, including those in Beaufort and Jasper counties. SCDOT said it recently finished making improvements to almost 2 miles of Castle Hall Road in Beaufort County, outside of Yemassee. “The work begins at the Old Sheldon Church Road intersection and ends at U.S. 21 and Castle Hall Road intersection,” a SCDOT spokesperson said. Improvements include pavement upgrades, widened shoulders, soil-cement treatment, new pavement markings, and updated roadway signage. More: Tri Pointe Homes acquires 60.4 acres in Bluffton's New Riverside final phase SCDOT also provided an update concerning the intersection of Highway 278 and Argent Boulevard. The department worked to make safety improvements at the intersection, which remains busy. Improvements include new, dedicated turn lanes and traffic lights that have now been added to the intersection of U.S. 278 and Argent Boulevard. “Although the traffic lights recently went online, the project is expected to be fully completed by the end of November,” the spokesperson said.
