Hinesville Sees Rise in January Unemployment Rate
Georgia Labor Commissioner Bruce Thompson said Thursday that Hinesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.5 percent in January, up seven-tenths of a percent over the month. A year ago, the rate was 3.6 percent. Due to seasonal factors from December to January, data that is not seasonally adjusted typically shows an increase in unemployment – a seasonal trend that happens each year.

JACKSONVILLE–CSX is delivering more fluid operations in Georgia thanks to a new line the railroad recently installed to enhance operations. Originally planned to take place over several months, construction of CSX’s new Nahunta, Ga., connector needed to be completed in just a few weeks because of a permit delay. Opening the connector on time was important for improving fluidity between Waycross and Jesup and enabling crews to finish their runs faster and spend more time at home. Teamwork involving many departments was necessary to get the job done safely and efficiently.
